Inspirational Wisdom Flash
All About Aries Aries was named after the Greek god of war, and its patron planet is Mars, his Roman counterpart. Astrologically speaking, the Red Planet has long been associated with 'red' qualities -- like assertiveness, aggression and passion. Needless to say, those of you born with the Sun in this hotheaded, temperamental sign are also passionate, impatient and perpetually predisposed to leap first and look later -- if at all. But don't let anyone convince you that any of those traits are liabilities. In the right hands, they're all assets. That impetuousness is part of what makes an Aries such charming, exciting company. It's a sign that's always brave enough to try anything once -- at least once. Basically, if you're an Aries, you're the perfect playmate; if you're not, you've probably enjoyed good times with one! The impatience associated with the sign also fosters a straightforward trustworthiness. Aries are big fans of the 'cut to the chase' strategy, so anything that gets between point A (where they are) and point B (where they want to be) just won't do. That definitely includes lies and deceit. Who has time for all that? For the Ram, it's better to just say what's true and get it over with. Aries certainly aren't afraid to take responsibility for their actions. What's the worst that could happen? For Mars's favorite sign, stress equals excitement, excitement equals adrenaline, and adrenaline is what makes it all worth it -- so getting involved with an Aries, even platonically, isn't a job for the faint of heart. Romantically speaking, anyone who decides to take on a Ram had better be a brave, spontaneous, unencumbered companion. But an Aries will also want a worthy opponent, someone who's not afraid to disagree with their partner -- or with the rest of the world, for that matter -- when the need arises. Aries folk are natural-born warriors who respect that quality in others. In short, anyone who's afraid -- of anything -- just won't do. And an Aries's lucky partner's reward will be a life full of adventure, passion and surprises. To say that there will never be a dull moment when Aries is involved isn't even scraping the surface!
Your Starcast for March 20-April 19 The planets are restless this month, leaving you by turns impulsive, chatty and even a little excessive. Make good use of all the change and reevaluation that the Astrological New Year will bring. Then get ready to take things down a notch, because Venus will ensure that we all end the Sun's transit of Aries on a dreamy, sensual note. Read on for all the details of this month's medley of planetary alignments. March 20: Sun into Aries, Mars in Aquarius Aries and Aquarius are, hands down, the heavens' most impetuous, rebellious and confrontational signs -- and they're extremely proud of it. Less spunky types are often caught with raised eyebrows when these particular energies are in control of the spotlight -- like they are now, for example. Big time. If you happen to be an Aries or Aquarius native, try to go easy on the rest of us for the next few weeks. If you're not, prepare for a bumpy ride, to say the least. Impulse, desire and reckless abandon will be the name of the game. Fasten your seatbelt and lock your tray table in its upright position. Your past accomplishments will act as professional flotation devices in case of emergencies -- but at least none of us will be bored. If you've dreamed of it, wondered about it or entertained the thought of giving it a shot, you'll be moved to do it now. This pair is anything but monotonous. March 22: Venus into Aries It's time for a planetary costume-change -- one that will add to an already exciting astrological lineup. Venus, the goddess of love, money and everything we hold dear, will storm off into red-hot, extremely impulsive Aries, setting up shop there for four exhilarating weeks. And while she's there, Venus will inspire us, one and all, to be far more interested in going directly after what we want than in even trying to be tasteful, discreet or cooperative en route. Does this mean that a few toes may be stepped on? Absolutely. But the person attached to those toes will probably be looking in another direction when it happens -- so who'll notice? March 25: Full Moon in Libra, Venus sextile Mars There's a full Moon due today, and it's toting the stuff that powerful relationship matters are made of -- not to mention the fact that it's set to occur in romantic, partner-loving Libra. Oh, and red-hot, passionate Mars has decided to get involved in the situation, too. Needless to say, the heavens have provided a double dose of relationship-oriented energies for us carbon-based units to struggle through for the next few days. In a nutshell, this means that absolutely no encounters will be boring -- whether they're with the person who slides into the seat next to you on the bus, the hottie you've been exchanging lingering glances with across the office or your longtime sweetheart. This full Moon most affects Aries born March 24-28, Cancers born June 24-28, Libras born September 26-30 and Capricorns born December 25-29. March 29, 30: Sun, Mercury and Venus in Aries Here's an 'interesting' astrological combination: the Sun, loving Venus and chatty Mercury have decided to call a meeting -- and they're having it in Aries, a sign that's never been famous for aiming before it fires. This certainly won't be boring -- but it might be quite explosive. If you're already in love, or even on the verge, the passion meter could end up reaching heights far higher than you'd ever thought possible -- but please do pardon the rest of us if we don't offer up our sincerest sympathies. If you're not currently attached, step away from any innocent bystanders who may be intrigued -- at least until you've had a warning label either tattooed or glued to your forehead. And when it comes to money? Take a chaperone along if you're out shopping for anything more expensive than a quart of milk. And make sure they're an earth sign. March 31: Mercury sextile Mars Prepare to chat up a storm, even if you're ordinarily not the chatty sort -- and possibly to put up a fight for airtime with those you've always thought of as 'the quiet types.' Mercury, the planetary ruler of communication, is currently in aggressive Aries -- and that's just the beginning. It's also working together with Mars, the owner of Aries that's famously known as the Red Planet -- a reputation that goes far beyond just describing its color. Together, these influences mean that each and every word anyone utters will be quite impressive, impulsive and passionate. So before you speak, make sure you want to be remembered for what you're about to say. April 2: Venus opposite Jupiter Certain days should come with warning labels, and this is definitely one of them. Pleasure-loving Venus will get into an opposition with Jupiter, the king of excess -- and these, friends, are the two planets that make up the classic astrological recipe for indulgence, extravagance and overdoing absolutely everything. Keep that in mind, no matter what you're offered. You won't be able to have just one of anything, whether it's a potato chip, a pair of shoes or a new adventure. Your philosophy right now, in fact, is that if one is good, then two would be very good -- and several would be just capital! April 3: Sun opposite Jupiter You definitely won't need any help being excessive, what with that Venus/Jupiter opposition still working its lavish magic on you -- but help is on the way, nonetheless, as the Sun hops into Venus's spot in the opposition to Jupiter. Since the Sun also happens to be in Aries, which has never been famous for hard-and-fast self-control, it's a given that today could be an instant replay of yesterday, to say the very least. If you get the feeling that you'd better start thinking about slowing down a bit -- since you do, after all, have to work tomorrow -- you'd better listen to it. By early evening, anyway. April 8: Mars trine Jupiter You'll need energy and determination to deal with the solar eclipse that's due later this afternoon -- and fortunately, that's exactly what this pair will provide. The combined talents of red-hot Mars, the god of war, and Jupiter, who never did know when to quit, can't help but get you through just about anything. They're both in an extremely cooperative mood, too, thanks to the fact that they're linked in an easy trine. So if something difficult is thrown your way, don't let it get you down. Realize that you have these two powerful planetary allies on your side, stick out your chest and deal with it. April 8: New Moon, solar eclipse Loving Venus and tenderhearted, sentimental Neptune paired up earlier this week to make for an easy, mellow time -- and hopefully you enjoyed it, because the pace of life is going to pick up big-time today. A super-charged solar eclipse (basically, a meeting of the Sun and Moon) will occur this afternoon in impetuous, impulsive Aries -- and this, friends, is the stuff that sudden, drastic change is made of. If you've been looking forward to eliminating a certain situation from your life, but waiting until the time was right, wait no longer. All the cosmic lights are green. This new Moon most affects Aries born April 7-11, Cancers born July 10-14, Libras born October 11-15 and Capricorns born January 8-12. April 8: Venus square Saturn Better prepare to tighten up your belt and cut back -- and not just a little, either. Loving Venus will make a difficult square to rigid Saturn, which often means we're not able to enjoy life for just a little while. After last weekend's excess, of course, this news may come as a welcome relief -- especially if it took you longer to recover than you thought it would. The downside is that you may need to say goodbye to someone or something that you care about very much. If that's the case, realize that everything has a season, and that there may be a bit of winter weather coming up for you now. April 10: Sun square Saturn Recent changes may have left you feeling a bit shell-shocked. So if you need some time alone to recover, you should definitely give it to yourself. It probably wasn't the kind of weekend you want to experience again soon, especially if you had to let go of a relationship or a situation and weren't quite emotionally ready. With all of life's events, however, there's an upside, a silver lining in every cloud. In this case, remember that clearing the boards of what's not working makes room for new life, which is really what today's Sun-Saturn square is all about. Do your mourning -- and allow yourself plenty of time for it -- but don't let it take you over. This, too, shall pass. April 12: Mercury Stationary Direct There's cause for much celebration in the kingdom. After three long weeks of driving us all crazy, Mercury will finally stop in its tracks, ready to turn forward and ease up on all the miscommunications, missed opportunities, computer snags and travel problems its retrograde path has caused. If you've just about had it with so many things going wrong, in the worst possibly way and at the worst possible time, don't feel bad. We're all tired of living out Murphy's Law. There's one minor catch to all this, however. Even though Mercury will technically be moving forward as of this morning, things may not get better right away. In fact, the day of a planet's station is often quite problematic. Get through the next couple of days, and then expect things to improve. April 15: Venus into Taurus Loving Venus will take off for warmhearted, quality-conscious Taurus this afternoon -- which just so happens to be one of Venus's two favorite signs. This planet/sign combination will put sensual pleasures at the top of everyone's list -- and, delightfully enough, it will last for three full weeks. Prepare yourself for this celebration of life, love and all good things by stocking up on appropriate provisions: sweet music and fragrant flowers, for starters. But if you've also got the most important element for this transit -- the right companion -- you'll want to go even further. Chocolate would be nice. And a gourmet, candlelit dinner never hurt anyone!
